If Husband were prone to giddiness, yesterday would have been the day that he would have exhibited it. He would have squealed like a Hogwarts** student witch that just found out she passed her OWL’s, because… it was the annual Colorado English Motoring Car Conclave! Where you can see all the old cars from the land of tea and crumpets driven by their ancient owners. And even some new ones, although I was informed by Husband that everybody hates the new minis and they should not be allowed to participate because they are made by BMW. He wouldn’t even clap during the prize ceremony when the category was announced. This from a man I caught licking his finger and wiping something off his 97 BMW, but as their website says,
“The purpose of the Colorado English Motoring Conclave is to further the operation, preservation and owner participation of the great British marques. The condition of your bike or car is not important! This is an event for ALL British vehicles, from beaters to everyday drivers to concours examples. All that counts is that you are a British vehicle nut like the rest of us! Just look at it as a giant group therapy session.”
Everyone brings their British cars and then all registered owners can vote for their favorites in each category(there were like 20 categories with categories within the categories like rubber bumpered MG’s or something) I voted by color which Husband found annoying so I ran away with the ballots and did all the voting myself. Don’t ask me who won, every time they announced the winners I kept asking my husband, “Which one was that?” Then he would patiently say things like, “That was the yellow one you liked” or “I don’t know ” Until we won! The Imp was a winner!
We got second place but totally should have had first place. The category we were in was with the Alpines which are like convertible race cars or something and look totally different from the Imp. I think this is the one that got first place:
The Imp is a class unto itself, and everyone said it was adorable. Because it is. Gaze upon the Imp below in the following informative and eloquently captioned photographs.
The rest of this post(after my footnotes)consists entirely of pictures I took of cars and two cute dogs, one was a Yorkie named Nigel that gave me the squeeeeeeeeeeeeees and the other is a Fox Terrier wearing a Broncos shirt. There are no captions because I have no idea what is what. Well obviously I know what a dog is, but I figured since one of the four people who reads my blog is my husband, I would just post this old timey car porn! Tally ho bitches!
*What will happen if the Scots vote for independence? Will the Imp(assembled in Scotland)still be eligible? Oh and speaking of Scots here’s some footage of wind being blown through a bag at the Conclave:
**Hogwarts is the “fictional” school in Harry Potter and when I think British, naturally I think of Harry Potter.
Old Timey Cars! Enjoy Car people. Enjoy.
